Morning update - Rain turning to snow in places later, sunny and cold tomorrow
TODAY
A cold day in general with some patchy rain and sleet becoming more persistent through the afternoon and potentially turning to snow in more central and western parts. Temperature 4-5°C for a time around the middle of the day before dropping to 2-3°C although closer to 4-5°C in the far east and south Wind east-northeast 5-11mph becoming east-southeast for a time 17-30mph but turning northeast 15-28mph by this evening
Rainfall 3-5mm with snowfall less than 1mm
TONIGHT
Cold with the rain turning to sleet widely and to snow in some areas away from windward coastal regions. There may be some minor accumulations over high ground in central and western parts and perhaps a slushy covering on the cars and grass at lower elevations in one or two spots, but within a mile or two of windward coasts we will see rain or sleet. Later in the night the rain, sleet and snow will clear away and the clouds will break, allowing a freeze to set in. Temperature 1-3°C generally but falling to -2 to 0°C by dawn
Wind northeast 15-28mph becoming north 8-16mph later
Rainfall 1-3mm with snowfall up to 1cm over high ground and a few elevated locations in central and western parts
TOMORROW
A cold day but a fine day with good sunny spells throughout. Temperature 3-4°C Wind north-northwest 6-12mph becoming west-northwest 9-16mph
