Morning update - Odd shower today, cloudy with rain and sleet later tomorrow
TODAY
A cold feeling day with a scattering of showers through the morning, perhaps wintry, especially over high ground. The afternoon will see sunny spells and broken cloud and just the outside chance of a shower. Temperature 6-7°C but closer to 3°C in and around any showers
Wind west 18-32mph, gusting to 40mph at times but easing a little during the afternoon at 14-26mph from the west-northwest
Rainfall 0-2mm with localised rainfall possible
TONIGHT
A cold night with a widespread ground rost developing along with a localised air frost (see frost alert maps). Later in the night we will begin to see the cloud increasing from the southwest. Temperature -1 to 1°C but closer to 3-4°C on windward coasts
Wind west-northwest 8-14mph becoming north 3-6mph but variable 0-3mph inland
TOMORROW
Any early brightness soon fading as the cloud continues to thicken up, followed by some patchy rain arriving by mid afternoon, turning to sleet away from the east and south, maybe even to snow across central and northwestern parts for a time before clearing away later in the evening/overnight. Temperature 4-6°C but as high as 7-8°C in the south and east for a time before dropping through the afternoon with 2-3°C fairly widely from 5pm but still closer to 5°C in the east and south Wind east 4-10mph becoming southeast 12-22mph across the southern half of the island before generally turning northeast 12-22mph from late afternoon
Rainfall 1-3mm with snowfall possible in central and western parts later but currently little or no accumulations expected
