Morning update - Cloud thickening today but becoming mild tonight and tomorrow with heavy rain




TODAY

A cold, cloudy day ahead with any early brightness quickly fading as the cloud thickens up ahead of a large area of rain that will move in this evening and overnight. Temperature 3-5°C across most parts but closer to 6-7°C in the east and south this afternoon Wind south-southeast 8-12mph becoming southeast 12-20mph by midday and 15-26mph by the end of the day



TONIGHT

A chilly start to the night with rain soon arriving along with sleet over high ground and in the west/northwest of the island, but much, much milder temperatures will soon arrive turning any sleet back to rain. As the night goes on the rain is likely to become heavy and persistent with low cloud and hill fog likely. Temperature 5-7°C at first but becoming 11-12°C after midnight Wind southeast 20-38mph becoming southwest 24-45mph during the early hours Rainfall 20-25mm



TOMORROW

A mild, wet and windy start to the day with spells of heavy rain at times, but becoming somewhat more showery during the afternoon. Temperature 11-12°C Wind southwest 25-48mph becoming 22-38mph later Rainfall 15-20mm
